• Download latest iTunes (9.2.1 or 9.2.1.5)
• Download suitable iOS for your device
• Sync your device with iTunes
• At iTunes, press Shift then click Restore
• Show the iOS’ ipsw file that you’ve just downloaded
• Activate your device with the original SIM Card
• visit http://jailbreakme.com from your iDevice’s Safari (you DON’T need a COMPUTER!!)

I had an iPhone 3GS 16gb (new bootrom dammit!!) with iPhone OS v3.1.2 and baseband v5.11.07  with TETHERED JAILBREAK (I hated it more than lots of things in life) and unlock.

And now I have an iPhone 3GS 16gb with iOS 4.0.1 and baseband v5.13.04. I’m very happy with it else than;

• iBluenova doesn’t work, it installs, opens but can not toggle bluetooth on.
• Cyntact crushes SpringBoard and itcan’t get out of Safe Mode!
• Safari Download Manager’s icon couldn’t appear on my Safari.
• Winterboard installs and works correctly but icon sets are not ready because when you try to use a theme most of the icons don’t change (I think there is an icon-name issue, creaters can upload their iconsets easily)
• I couldn’t be able to use Turkish Full Q Keyboard, installed it, did the settings, but couldn’t see the button in my keyboard.

Also YourTube installs, shows funcitonality but I couldn’t be able to downlaod a full YouTube video until now (may be due the stupid internet restrictions of my 3rd World Country?!).

This Jailbreak (of Comet by the way) was using an exploit about PDF filetype. I understood it when I first tried it with my already Jailbroken 3.1.2 device just for curiosity. Safari Download Manager asked me to view or save the PDF file (You can see or save these PDF files by device and OS versions here). Anyway now including Apple (thank them a lot for these exploits that let people to Jailbeak and free their captivated devices by the way) everyone knows about this exploit and YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR DEVICE from this exploit after Jailbreak. Here is something for that, too.

En yaygını mp3, duruma göre 64, 128, 192, 320kbps veya vbs (değişken) gibi saniyedeki veri akış miktarına göre kalitesi değişebilen bir biçimdir. Bu ses biçimi KAYIPLIdır. Yani sıkıştırma miktarına göre sesin kalitesi düşer ve kaliteli bir donanımla sesteki bozulmalar daha çok kulağınıza gelecek ve müzikten aldığınız keyfi azaltacaktır.

Aac, yine mp3 benzeri bir biçimdir, mp3 kadar yaygın değildir ve KAYIPLIdır.

Wav, ilk müzik dosyaları henüz sıkıştırma olmadan önce bu biçimdeydi, KAYIPSIZDIR, SIKIŞTIRILMAMIŞtır. Dolayısıyla diskinizde çok yer kaplar.

Şimdi gelelim KAYIPSIZ sıkıştırma biçimlerine; yani hem kaliteden kayıp yaşamadığınız, hem de sıkıştırma yapabildiğiniz, gerçekten yetenekli biçimler. En yaygını (çok şükür) -mp3′ün aksine- açık kaynaklı olan FLAC, yani Free Lossless Audio Codec (özgür kayıpsız ses kodeki). Kaliteden hiç ödün vermeden yaklaşık yarı yarıya bir sıkıştırma sağlar.

Bir diğeri Apple’ın, uzantısı m4a  olan biçimi ALAC, yani Apple Lossless Audio Codec.

Apple’ın kendi kayıpsız sıkıştırma biçimi olduğu için elbette yine Apple bencilliği kendini burada da gösteriyor ve FLAC biçimli müziklerimizi iPhone, iPad, iPod gibi cihazlarımızda dinleyemiyoruz. Peki ya illa ki dinlemek istersek?

Bu iki KAYIPSIZ biçimi birbirine en sağlıklı şekilde dönüştürmek için bir adet iTunes, bir adet Flac Frontend, isteğe bağlı olarak bir adet mp3tag kullanabiliriz. Öncelikle http://sourceforge.net/projects/flac/ adresinden flac frontend’ini (kullanıcı arayüzü diyelim) indiriyoruz. Ve wav biçimine çevireceğimiz dosyaları, artı yeni wav dosyalarının gideceği klasörü seçtikten sonra decode diyoruz (Bu noktada bir uyarı, Flac Frontend’i yönetici olarak çalıştırmanız klasör izinleri için geçerli, yoksa Runtime Error alabilirsiniz). Ardından iTunes’u açıp Edit -> Preferences -> General altında “When you import a Cd” kısmının yanında “import settings”i açıyoruz ve “import using” seçeneğini “Apple Lossless Encoder” olarak seçiyoruz. Wav dosyalarımızı iTunes’a attıktan sonra sağ tıklayıp “Create Apple Lossless Version” dediğimiz takdirde “iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\<sanatçı adı>\<albüm adı>” dizininde çevirdiğimiz şarkıları bulup istediğimiz yere taşıyabiliriz. Mp3tag’i önermemin sebebi de bu m4a dosyalarının etiketlerinin düzenlenmesidir.

ALAC biçimindeki dosyaların uzantısı m4a’dır, unutmayın; ve Apple marka cihazlarınızda kullanım için uygun bir kayıpsız biçimdir (cihazınıza başka bir program vs yüklemeksizin).

Unutmayın, bu dosya biçimlerinin hakkını verebilmek için, bunları; geneliyle kaliteli bir müzik sistemi, yani kaliteli ses çipi-ses kartı, kaliteli speaker veya şahsi tercihim kaliteli kulaklıklarla desteklemek gerekir. Aradaki fark muazzam olacaktır.

İyi keyifler.

Sizinle önce bir adet iPhone almaya karar verip, cihazı Türkiye’dekinden ucuz bir şekilde (tabii ki yasal yollarla ) edinip, Türkiye’deki simkartlarla çalışır hale getirip, Apple’ın izin verdiği vermediği her tür uygulamayı (app) yükleyebilir hale getireceğiz.

Elimden geldiğince müzik atmadan, kişileri eşzamanlamaya (sync), jailbreak’ten bu elektronik aletin (telefon demekten imtina ediyorum mümkün oldukça, nedenini anlayacaksınız) ince ama gizli kalmış ayarlarına (tweak) kadar; şu geçen bir kaç aydaki bilgi ve son 10 gündeki deneyimlerimi aktarmayı planlıyorum. Bulunduğum ortamda vakit buldukça tabi.

Bölüm 1: Satın Alma

Öncelikle bu iPhone dediğimiz nane tek değil, birden fazla modeli var yani. İlk olarak 3g desteklemeyen ilk nesil iPhone (2g de deniyor?). Ardından 3g desteği ile birlikte gelmiş olan, ve ufak görsel, donanımsal, yazılımsal yenilikler içeren 3g (8gb ve 16gb depolama seçenekleri ile) ve en sonda da performansı artırılmış ve magnetometre (pusula özelliği diyelim) vs eklenmiş olan iPhone 3Gs (s, speed’in [hız] s’si, 16 ve 32gb depolama seçenekleri ile). Biz 2g ile ilgilenmeyeceğiz, aslında 3g ile de ilgilenmezdik ama birazdan bahsedeceğimiz kimilerinin canını sıkabilecek “tethered jailbreak” (sabırr) sorunu yüzünden 3g’yi de muhatap alıyoruz.

Sözleşmeli fiyatları hesaba katmıyorum; onları Turkcell, Avea ve Vodafone’un sayfasından bakıp kendinize uygun olanına ancak siz karar verebilirsiniz, ben tercih etmiyorum.

iPhone’u daha uygun fiyatla bulmak istiyorsanız benim gibi bakmanız gereken yer yurtdışı. Genelde sözleşmeli satıldığı için Almanya’dan gelen bir tanıdığıma buradan araştırıp sözleşmesiz (eğer varsa) satan yer bulacak kadar vaktim olmadı. Uzun lafın kısası bu meret simkilitsiz Hong Kong’da, simkilitli olarak da Amerika Bestbuy mağazalarında (California, Mountain View’a selam ) bulunabiliyor. Misal, Bestbuy mağazasına gidince 3gs 16gb için alacağınız fiyat 660 $ [tam tamına 661.895 ) ]. Yani 980 Türk Lirası; internet mağazalarında bulamazsınız bu arada, bir nevi el altı mı çalışıyorlar nedir, çok da belli etmiyorlar sattıklarını.

Peki yavaştan başlayalım bakalım, nedir simkilit? Efendim simkilit, elinize aldığınız telefonun anlaşmalı olduğu operatörünkiler (misal bizde Avea, Turkcell) hariç diğer simkartlarla çalışmasını engelleyen sistemdir. İtinayla kırılır (işlemin adı İngilizce’de “unlock”, aşinalaşın yavaştan, jailbreak’ten sonra bunu yapacağız çünkü).

Hong Kong’dan alırsanız jailbreak unlock da uğraşmazsınız ancak jailbreak’siz iPhone da apple ve kapitalizm esaretinden pek de fazla bir şey değil gibi geliyor bana, iPhone’la geçen şu 10 günden sonra.

Telefonu Amerika’dan veya Hong Kong’dan kendiniz getirebilir veya bir tanıdığınıza getirtebilirsiniz. Ancak getirdikten sonra pasaportunuza kayıt ettirmeniz lazım: hiç de zor değil, “SON İKİ (2) YILDA ÜZERİNE BAŞKA BİR TELEFON KAYDETTİRİLMEMİŞ VE YURDA SON BİR (1) AY İÇERSİNDE GİRİŞ YAPMIŞ BİR TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ PASAPORTU”nu, bu pasaportun sahibi ve telefonunuzla Turkcell, Vodafone veya Avea bayiine götürüyor ve işleminizi 5dk’da hallediyorsunuz. Misal ben Avea hat kullanan biri olarak telefonumu Turkcell’e kayıt ettirdim ve http://www.mckstk.gov.tr/sorgu/imeisorgu.php adresinden sorgulayarak da artık telefonumun Türkiye’de yasal olarak kullanıma dahil olduğunu görebiliyorum. Gayet kolay bir işlem, ne dersiniz?

Şimdilik bu kadar, bir sonraki yazı, sıradaki işlemler; jailbreak ve unlock’la telefonun kullanıma uygun hale getirilmesi.

What about it? Just like 7′s superbar and in Firefox it’s bookmarks bar and tabbar combined. Actually ı’d love something like that but as an extension it would be something complicated and so hard to code I guess.

First of all, I’ve got an NTFS disk and I store my all my music, video and any other files on that disk. Whatever I did; expect one thing that I’ll soon write down, Ubuntu hasn’t mounted that disk at start. The simplest example, my wallpapers are on that disk, too. And everytime I start Ubuntu I see an orange colour screen until I open Computer and double click disk icon.

Solution is; first check tow packages if installed on your system (one comes installed as default actually); ntfs-3g and ntfs-config, than you need the program pySDM (which SDM stands for Storage Device Manager). After installing that program you need to select your disk from its interface and and click assistance.

After that you must select the checkboxes like this:

I mentioned about problems, for example one thing I like very much in Ubuntu is screenlets. My screenlets just doesn’t run. Some people get some error messages like mine. But I couldn’t figure it out to start them. I re-installed (removed the configuration files also) it but it doesn’t work. It was just working on 8.10? What happened since then.

I insalled Gnome-do a few days ago. I don’t want it to start on boot, but it does. First I changed its settings to not to leoaad on startup. It still does. Then I opened “Startup Applications”, called “Başlangıç Uygulamaları” in Turkish. And unchecked it, nop. It didn’t work. So I removed it from my system.

Firefox does not upgrade to 3.5 from 3.0.* version.  Do not be surprised. You must install Shiretoko (which is I suppose codename for Firefox 3.5) then you can use your upgraded Firef.. Oops Shiretoko.

And at first times of Jaunty; one of my most loved apps, UbuDSL was not working. Because something changed in Ubuntu, it needed an upgrade from developer and then worked. It works like a charm now. Better then Windows or Pardus (does not have an interface but OK) version of similar programs.

Yesterday I selected and added nearly 100 wallpapers and when I reboot they were not on the wallpaper list. Something is going on with the Jackalope but I do not understand that.

If something just does not work like the previous version, I personally do not feel so into that version because of just trying to solve the problems.

After the introduction a user with nickname “JimF” from ferrarichat forum (may require membership) has done some very good but simple Photoshop work and made Ferrari 458 on a lot of colours.

But this one is some different because this time Ferrari F458 looks like just been caught by some fan and taken a very close photo with all those spy “camouflage” but details look well. Here is the link and the photo:

It doesn’t have the shiny red colour or flashy studio lights and may be it doesn’t look as good as the official photos but remember, it’s meant to be unattractive to be tested on the roads without being recognized

But there’s something that we simply install new version but can not use it permanently. Our extensions that we can not do without them. I installed Firefox 3.5 beta 4 and felt exactly like this. I couldn’t use some of my important extensions like Greasemonkey and Firegestures. And also I prefer to see my browser integrated with Aero look of Windows 7, too. If you haven’t heard yet, Glasser for that, too.

If you just go to mozilla’s addon page and try to install these three extension to your Firefox 3.5b4, al you’ll get is just warnings that your Firefox versions are not supported by these extensions. So??

Are you gonna try or wait? If you want to use your chance, watch these steps.

i) Open your Firefox’s old version. Go to extensions’ page right clikc the button and save them. You may not be able to save at first time, it sometime gives you html files (actually you can change that html’s file extension and make it addons too, but anyway..).

ii) Open that extension that you downloaded to your computer as an archive file.

You’ll see something like this:

iii) After that we will simply modify (really very simply) install.rdf file in the archive with our notepad:

You’ll look for <em:maxVersion>*****</em:maxVersion> tags and there you’ll see that addons max version as “3.0*” or “3.1b4pre” something. You’ll notify that it’s version number of Firefox. Change it to “3.5b4“.

iv) Then simply drag&drop the extension to your browser, install it and restart your browser. That’s it!

If there is no problem with that extension to work with your current Firefox version (here 3.5b4) then it will work smoothly. But for major changes of version your extensions may break your Firefox!! I give no warranty for that. I tried and it just worked for these three extensions. Try your chance.

Just like I said, it’s not a very complex trick that entegrates your bookmarks bar to the superbar of Windows7. It’s just a workaround that we create our -preferred- bookmarks’ shortcuts to any directory in our computer as webapps, then create new toolbar for that folder and voila. For those who didn’t understand, let’s explain it step by step:

i) First of all, to create web applications we need a firefox with the prism add-on or google chrome (it needs some add-ons, yeah). At this step I personally choose chrome because it’s faster specially on my “below mid-performance computer” and actually I didn’t like the way that prism handles this stuff.

We open our bookmarks as tabs on chrome and then click “Create application shorcuts”. Then select desktop as shortcut location. Here it’s explained detailly.

ii) After you’ve finished creating shortcuts then put them in a folder and take the folder to any directory as you want. I put it in my documents, and at first created a shortcut on my desktop because if I forgot any websites to create shortcurt of.

iii) Then we create a new toolbar just like;

And show it shortcuts’ folder:

Now you’ve a new toolbar just as the first two screenshots of mine. You can first unlock the taskbar by right-clicking it and then try the options as “show title” and “show text”.

And if you don’t want a toolbar you just want to add your bookmarks seperately; then you should do the first step, I mean create the shortcut of the website by chrome (or prism) and then drag&drop it to the superbar. It’s easy as is. When you click on your bookmarks you’ll simply have a webapp like this:
